Options Area administrators and history-social studies engaged in the third session of Shifting Instruction to the Core, this time focusing on Next Generation Assessments. Throughout this morning's session, participants made connections between the Instructional Shifts and Next Generation Assessments. Participants began by comparing traditional assessment to CCSS-aligned assessment, reviewing the research behind text complexity & text dependency, and engaging with a video on David Coleman's remarks on changes to the SAT. Teachers and administrators then spent time engaging with and reflecting on mini-assessments from Student Achievement Partners. Materials for the session are linked below.
